Company History

Evergreen Home & Hearth was founded in 2007 by Matthew Scott with a simple idea: give the people of Maine a place to get real, experienced guidance on home heating, not warehouse browsing, but actual expertise. What started as a single Ellsworth location grew into two stores, with a second location added in Brewer to serve more of Penobscot County. By 2023, after seven years of renting on High Street in Ellsworth, Scott chose to build rather than renew. Breaking ground on a purpose-built showroom on Bar Harbor Road in Trenton designed specifically to hold more inventory and more live demonstration units than anything he'd had before. That new facility opened in fall 2023 and represents the most ambitious chapter in nearly two decades of steady, honest growth. Evergreen is also an approved contractor through the National Energy Improvement Fund (NEIF), so customers can access energy improvement financing directly through the store, making quality installations more accessible than ever.

The showroom at 117 Bar Harbor Road is, without exaggeration, unlike anything else in Maine. When Matthew Scott designed this facility from scratch in 2023, his goal was to put between 125 and 150 live, burning demonstration units on the floor, so customers don't browse cold metal boxes, they actually experience the products. Walk in on any weekday and you'll find wood stoves crackling, gas fireplaces glowing, and pellet inserts running, covering every fuel type and price point in one space. Hot tubs from Arctic Spa and Jacuzzi sit alongside outdoor fire pits and propane features, making this a full destination for indoor and outdoor living upgrades. Situated right on Route 3, the main road from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Easy to reach whether you're a year-round local or a seasonal homeowner heading to the coast.
