Company History

The story behind the fireplace you might buy in Edgewater actually starts on Long Island back in 1976, when Vincent Costello took over a small, under-stocked, roughly 2,000-square-foot hardware store to support his wife and ten kids, working it every day for five years until it finally turned a profit. Signing on as an Ace Hardware dealer in the early 1980s gave the growing company real buying power and let Vinnie focus on people instead of product sourcing, and that scrappy beginning eventually grew into one of the largest family-owned hardware chains in the country. In 1997 the family opened its first dedicated fireplace shop in Maryland, which has since grown into Costello's Hearth & Spa, now with fireplace, hot tub, and swim spa showrooms across Maryland, New York, and New Jersey, including the Edgewater location on Central Avenue.

Facilities & Showroom

The Edgewater showroom is built right into the Central Avenue Ace Hardware, so you can wander in between errands and end up standing in front of a lineup of fireplaces before stepping a few feet over to see Bullfrog Spas hot tubs and swim spas set up and running. Costello's is the exclusive authorized Bullfrog Spas dealer for the Edgewater area. The showroom keeps long hours seven days a week, so there's no need to rush a decision that's going to sit in your living room or backyard for years to come, and the staff on the floor are there to talk through fuel types, jet configurations, and everything in between rather than just point you toward a price tag.
