Company History

Rustic by Design got its start in 2007 in the small town of Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, before owner Janet Merschat and her family made their way to Sabraton and, eventually, to Morgantown's Seneca Center in 2011, the spot they've called home ever since. What began as a fireplace business has grown, one season at a time, into a full hearth-and-outdoor-living destination covering pools, kitchens, patio furniture, and masonry, even as the industry itself transformed around them.

Tucked into Morgantown's Seneca Center, the Rustic by Design showroom is the kind of place that makes you slow down: nearly 30 fireplaces burning and glowing at once, from classic masonry hearths to sleek modern inserts, so you can see and feel the real thing instead of guessing from a brochure. Wander a little further and you'll find patio furniture vignettes, working outdoor kitchen displays, and, this is the part that surprises first-time visitors, shelves of gourmet olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars poured for tasting. It's equal parts hearth showroom and neighborhood gathering spot, and it's worth the drive.
