Company History

Best in Backyards' story starts in 1992, when Mahopac High School grads and brothers Mark and Scott Honigsberg began building cedar swing sets out of their parents' shed under the name Eastern Jungle Gym. Word, and orders, spread fast, and by the early 2010s the brothers had turned that swing-set reputation into a retail division, opening showrooms across New York and Connecticut, including New Windsor. Three decades later, the same family still runs the show from their Carmel, NY headquarters, now stocking sheds, trampolines, fire pits, pergolas, and pools alongside the swing sets that started it all.

The New Windsor location is built for browsing outdoors: a lot full of fully assembled swing sets, trampolines, basketball systems, sheds, and pergolas that you can walk through, climb on, and picture in your own yard before committing. The backyard-focused team on site doubles as a design resource, walking customers through Design Center options for decks, patios, sheds, and pools so the final layout actually fits the space. It's less a showroom in the traditional indoor-retail sense and more a working sample yard, which, for products this size, is exactly the point.
