Colony's story started humbly enough, in 1973, two dedicated tradespeople opened a small shop in the historic Amana Colonies of Iowa, building a reputation one satisfied customer at a time. By 1981, the business had grown enough to plant roots in Cedar Rapids, and it never looked back. Under the founding guidance of Doug Kohoutek, Colony steadily expanded its capabilities and service footprint, eventually becoming one of the largest and most trusted HVAC, plumbing, and hearth products contractors in the entire state of Iowa. In 2020, Brian Miller stepped into the role of president, bringing fresh energy and a forward-thinking vision while honoring the values that had made Colony great.
