Company History

The story starts, in a roundabout way, with Vincent Costello losing his air conditioning business during a recession and, with no retail experience, taking over a struggling little hardware store in 1973 to support his wife and ten children. This was a gamble that grew into the Costello's Ace Hardware family now stewarded by six of those same kids. The hearth and spa side came later. Costello's opened its first fireplace showroom in 1997, and by 2005 the company had added hot tubs to three of its hearth locations, discovering that customers who wanted a warm fire in January often wanted a hot soak in July, too. A change in ownership in 2017 marked the beginning of a new chapter. By 2022, Costello's Hearth & Spa had expanded to thirteen showrooms across Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Virginia, including its Cockeysville location on York Road. Even with that growth, the company has stayed true to the hands-on, small-town values it was built on nearly three decades ago.

Tucked into its own suite at 10912 York Road, the Cockeysville showroom is set up so you can actually sit in what you're considering rather than just read about it on a card. As the exclusive Bullfrog Spas dealer for the Cockeysville area, the showroom features a working lineup of JetPak-equipped hot tubs and swim spas. Customers can test different jet configurations seat by seat before deciding what feels best for their backyard. The showroom also includes a wide selection of gas, wood, electric, and pellet fireplaces and hearth products.
