For decades it was home to a fireplace and patio shop of its own, and now it’s the newest addition to The Stove Shoppe family, a New England hearth retailer that’s been outfitting homes with wood, gas, pellet, and electric stoves since the early 1970s. What carries over from their flagship stores is the part that actually matters: a team that sells fewer things but knows every one of them cold, and installs what they sell instead of just ringing it up.

The Stove Shoppe has been selling and installing hearth products since the early 1970s, growing out of its New Hampshire roots into a small family of stores before finally crossing into Massachusetts. Middleton became that newest chapter in 2025, when the company moved into 140 South Main Street, a building longtime locals will remember as Yankee Fireplace Grill & Patio, a fixture at that same address since 1976. Rather than start from scratch in unfamiliar territory, The Stove Shoppe took over a spot Massachusetts hearth shoppers already knew and trusted, and gave it a fresh start under new ownership and a grand opening of its own.
