Company History

In the heart of Minnesota, a family legacy began in 1957 when Al and Arlette Brekke established Brekke Home Improvement. Initially, their primary focus was on siding and windows for the homes in their community. Little did they know that their journey would soon take an exciting turn that would warm the hearts and homes of countless families. In the early 60s, the Brekke’s noticed an increasing demand for fireplace equipment among their loyal customers. People were seeking quality, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing options to elevate the comfort and ambiance of their homes. A problem emerged: Minneapolis’s nearest fireplace equipment outlet was miles away. Recognizing the need within their community, the Brekke’s decided to change their services and product offerings to include a wide range of fireplace equipment and accessories. Although the Brekkes have retired from the business, their grandson, Mark Nelson, continues to carry on the tradition of quality custom installation and above all, service and customer satisfaction.

And yes, there’s a terrific selection of finishing materials including stone veneers and mantels to complete that special look you’re after. The showroom is designed to inspire and help you visualize how a fireplace can transform your home.
