Just off Highway 7 on the east side of the city, Friendly Fires has been Peterborough’s answer to “where do I even start” for fireplaces, stoves, and outdoor cooking for more than three decades. This is the original store that the whole company grew out of, and it still runs like it. A technical bench that includes more than ten WETT-certified technicians and a similarly deep roster of licensed gas fitters, all under one roof, all trained to install and stand behind exactly what they sell. Company History

Friendly Fires got its start right here in Otonabee, just outside Peterborough, and spent the better part of three decades earning the reputation that eventually let it grow rather than the other way around. A Cobourg location followed in 2009, a merger with Renewable Energy of Plum Hollow brought a Kingston showroom into the fold in 2012, Carleton Place opened in 2015 to reach Ottawa and Lanark County, and Belleville rounded the company out to five locations in 2018. Through all of it, Peterborough has stayed the flagship, and it's been recognized with a Peterborough & Kawartha Home Builders' Association award along the way.

Facilities & Showroom

Walk into the Peterborough showroom on Highway 7 and you'll find working displays across everything Friendly Fires sells. Wood, gas, and pellet stoves and fireplaces on one side, a genuine outdoor living section of BBQs, smokers, pizza ovens, and outdoor fireplaces on the other. If a drive out isn't in the cards yet, Friendly Fires also offers a virtual walkthrough of the showroom through Google Maps, so you can get a feel for the space before you go.
