This is a great question and should be one of the first things you discuss with your dealer. If you’re a person who does not like to get your hands dirty or procrastinates on regular maintenance items, do not buy a pellet stove! A gas model would be your best bet. But, if that description doesn’t fit you, then pellet stoves are a terrific option. Routine maintenance on any pellet appliance will include cleaning out the stainless steel burn pot, the heat exchange tubes and the exhaust system. Ash pans are designed to be easily slid out and emptied. The gasketing material around the glass doors and ash pan needs to be periodically inspected and replaced as needed. The specifics for cleaning and properly maintaining your model will be clearly outlined in the owner’s manual.
