Most models have an automatic ignition system designed into a circuit board. Simply turn your control to the “on” or “start” position. Keep in mind the moisture content in pellets is very low, so pellets are quite easy to ignite. Depending on your model, an ignitor rod, a hot surface ignitor or glow plug are in direct contact with the pellets. After a few minutes, the pellets start to burn. This start-up sequence is outlined in your owner’s manual and is controlled by the circuit board in your appliance. Some pellet stoves may need to be lit manually, with gelled alcohol. It’s best to avoid these models.
