WHICH OUTDOOR PROJECT WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

One of my favorite outdoor projects is my backyard fire pit. It was a quick, easy project, and we have gotten so much use out of it!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROJECT?

I love our DIY backyard fire pit because it was a really simple project to complete, and we’ve gotten so much use out of it. From making S’mores with the kids for backyard camping to sitting around the fire with friends in the evening – it’s been a great addition to our backyard.

HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS PROJECT FOR SKILL LEVEL?

This is definitely a beginner project. There are no special skills or tools required.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO COMPLETE?

From start to finish putting together our fire pit only took about 2 hours. We were able to build it in the morning and use it for the first time that evening.

Our cost was about $200.

WHICH OUTDOOR PROJECT WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

My favorite outdoor project for 2021 was building our floating deck in our backyard.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROJECT?

This project has been on our list of projects for years, and we were tired of not being able to enjoy our backyard.

HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS PROJECT FOR SKILL LEVEL?

Intermediate.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO COMPLETE?

Our deck has lots of different angles; this made the project take longer than if you were building a rectangular deck. But the project took us about two weeks to complete from start to finish.

WHAT WAS THE APPROXIMATE BUDGET TO COMPLETE YOUR PROJECT?

Our floating deck build for all materials was about $2,800.

WHICH OUTDOOR PROJECT WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

We’ve lived in our house for over a year now and have done some major updates on the outside. But one of my favorite projects I completed myself was creating planters to anchor string lights and a shade cloth over our back patio.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROJECT?

I’m all about making the most of what you’ve got, even if it’s temporary. String lights around the patio give my family and I a few more hours to use and enjoy our patio. And the shade cloth is necessary in the summer months when the afternoon sun is beating down. All I needed was a spot to hold them up opposite our carport.

HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS PROJECT FOR SKILL LEVEL?

This is definitely a project a beginner DIY-er or new homeowner could tackle!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO COMPLETE?

It took approximately 1 hour to create the planters and secure the shade and lights.

WHAT WAS THE APPROXIMATE BUDGET TO COMPLETE YOUR PROJECT?

It cost around $200 for materials and supplies.
